Chief Wolf Robe Bronze
Ian asks: What can you tell me about this statue?
AW says: This is a wonderful example of a Charles Kauba, cold paint, polychrome sculpture. The figure is a Chief Wolf Robe Bronze of the Native American Indian Cheyenne tribe. This is circa early turn of the 20th century and an excellent casting of this figure. There are at least several other casting versions of lesser value. Those tend to be mounted directly on marble without a pedestal.
One sold in 2008 for $22,000 at auction. But PLEASE NOTE an auction sale is a snapshot in time. You can never exactly duplicate all the same auction market conditions.
