What it worth? Poole vintage tea service

Poole vintage tea service
Poole pottery mark

Pauline asks:

Dear Walt,
this appraisal is for a friend. It is Poole Pottery with the dolphin stamp. Unfortunately there is a little chip in it but apart from that it is in good condition. It is a little tea set with a tea pot, two cups, a milk jug, a sugar bowl, and a tray. She would just like to know if it is worth anything, Let me know if you need any more pictures.

Thanks again,

AW says: That’s a charming little retro service for two in duo-tone aqua circa late 1950s.

Date range: 1950s

Retail value: $85.00-$100

Wholesale value: $40-$50
(The midrange price you could expect to achieve at a well advertised live auction. The price that is most often realized)

Quick sale value: $35
The price your likely to get if you have to sell your item immediately and your prospective customer is aware of this.

Common trade terminology: Duo-Tone,Duotone, Poole Pottery, Poole Porcelain,

Nicknames or slang terms: Retro Pottery

Selling tips: eBay is becoming a great place to sell retro items. Only a few years ago this was snubbed as not being old enough to be collectible, now 20somethings think retro is hip and are collecting all kinds of vintage items. The fact that it’s a complete service for two is nice. Just know that not much of anything is bringing retail prices as of the time I write this post.

In most cases, I believe it would be beneficial for your to give the prospective buyer a link to this page, and to bookmark it via your favorite bookmarking service.

Care and storage tips: I don’t like to put any vintage porcelain in the microwave or dishwasher.
