                                                          A New Auction Venture in Rowley MA

For the past few weeks I’ve been talking about a new stomping ground that has been a phenomenal resource here for me here on the North Shore. It won’t be news to many of you who know the area, but the Todd Farm Flea Market in Rowley, is the bees knees of fleas!

To see why I’m saying this, take a look at my Examiner Article: A Sunday Visit to Todd Farm.

I’m excited to announce that I’ll be testing out an auction venue there as well. Frank Todd the owner and manager of the flea, has agreed to let me try out an on-site, outside auction right at the flea on Sunday afternoon. Details will be coming soon. Most likely the first one will be August 8th, at 1pm (preview from 10-1)

Rather than a traditional auction of about 200 lots, this will consist of 10-20 larger dealer lots. It will be a cash only sale, with each item being paid for immediately after it is sold. There won’t be a buyer’s premium, and it will be subject to rain or shine.

Types of things you can expect are collections of antiques, collectibles & general merchandise. IE: Postcards, costume jewelry, antique books & ephemera, CDs & DVDs.
If there is any kind of competition at all, the sale will go absolute. Come out to  Rowley and have some fun with us!

 Once a date has been confirmed and slated for this auction, you can find details at  http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/auctionlist.cgi?vuid=599

                   Boocoo Auctions beats eBay in matchup of charity iPad auctions!

I know it sounds crazy, but it’s absolutely true. The two companies recently held auctions for iPads at which the funds were donated to charities. The eBay auction ran a week, the booco auction ran for 2hrs.

The eBay auction had 22 bids, the iPad sold for $521 on eBay. There was no page counter, so I don’t know how many views it has.

Tips

  • Musty smells can often be taken out of old fabrics by placing them in a sealed plastic bag with household charcoal for a few days.
  • I don’t like to put a lot of work into an item to get more money for it, but know when the price of an item can be greatly increased with a simple cleaning.
  • Well bought is half sold. Buy right and you’ll be able to sell much easier.
  • Everyone is looking to get more traffic to their pages, whether they sell on boocoo.com, eBay or their own site. Bookmarking, and Tweeting is one of the best ways to get exposure.Networking with other sellers who Tweet, Stumble, Facebook and digg is a great way to get the word out.

                                                 The weekly contest:

 The answer to last weeks question is 42, (How many categories were in the boocoo.com cloud, which is no longer used. ) The answer was 42. Several people answered correctly.

Jerry D. of MI gets the package this week, being the first to send in the right answer.

                                            This weeks question is:

    What type of radio is named after a church?

=======================

The first person to email me with the correct answer to the question above, will be the winner. Now of course, I’ll need a way to get that package to the winner, so send your snail mail address along with your contest answers. The prize is a neat collectibles surprise envelope which includes things found in a recent estate purchase I made. Things likely to be in said envelope are vintage postcards, ephemera, books, old photos and who knows what?

The best way I know of to:

    * Research what live auctions are featuring each week
    * Find out who is selling what and where
    * Find out which auctioneers sell what types of items
    * Search what things have sold for
    * See who is taking consignments
    * Find specialty auctions
    * Bid online
    * Ask auctioneers specific questions
    * Qualify auctions for your specific interests
    * Search live auction content by zip code

… and much more, is to use Auctionzip.com the largest live auction locator.

I’ve been using AuctionZip.com for years now, and I’m proud to have them as a sponsor.
