Antiques are evergreen

What do I mean when I say that antiques are evergreen? Here I’m actually referring to blogging about antiques. When you write about antiques, the article you publish has staying power. The website WiseGeek.com says “Evergreen content refers to informational or reference material that never goes out of date, therefore desirable to websites looking to build a lasting readership.”
Benefits for sites that provide quality evergreen information about antiques tend to:
- Have many links coming in
- Get bookmarked often
- Are sought out by other reference sources. (You may notice the links on my page to the Wall St. Journal, Fox News and Reader’s Digest, all of which have interviewed me because they found my evergreen content)
- Have a good Google page rank
- Have great SEO, (search engine optimization)
- Gain sponsorship
- Grow steadily
- Obtain loyal readers
- Do well selling products and services
Here at AuctionWally.com, I’ve figured out how to post evergreen content in a way that pays me for my publishing, (by way of my paid appraisals and sponsorships), but I’ve also found a way to attract thousands of readers a month by allowing free access to all of the appraisals I’ve completed once they are published.
This means my site is an ever-expanding wealth of information which people want to support and be associated with. I see the Internet as being all about relationships and Google sees it the same way, that’s why they base the importance of your site not only on the quality of content, but by the company you keep.
When you link to high quality sites, and high quality sites link back to you, people are going to find you online. Now make sure some of what you write is useful, timeless, evergreen and you’ll be swamped with readers.
