The November 1st newsletter is Haunted

….This just in….

 The Reader’s Digest story I was featured in for the November 09 issue, is available Online.  Thanks much to all who have called or emailed to congratulate me on the piece, I really appreciate that.

the halloween queen
The Halloween Queen appears on the AuctionWally Show again.

A collection of letters written by Lord Byron have been sold for £277,250 - a world auction record for any group of letters by a British Romantic poet.

Part of a collection from the library of former Prime Minister, the fifth Earl of Rosebery, they had been tipped to fetch no more than £180,000…click here for the rest of the story.

 ================

Remember when mom threw out all your comic books when you were a kid? When she did that, she made everyone else’s comic books that more valuable by creating scarcity. As I write this, there is a fantastic Silver Age comic book auction taking place. Daredevil #1 just sold for $7,500! Not bad for a 12 cent investment!

 ================
There was a gap in production of the AuctionWally Show, but it’s alive and well, albeit on an erratic schedule. Last week I published two back to back episodes for Halloween, my favorite holiday.

The first was an interview with Michelle Staley of My Granny’s Attic, she’s had 3 paranormal investigative teams out to her antique shop, which she claims is haunted!
  ================
Speaking of haunted, if the spirit world is of interest to you, you’ll want to hear what my guest on 85 had to say. This is the 2nd appearance by the Halloweeen Queen, on the AuctionWally show. Pamela is an author of books on Halloween collectibles and tradition, the curator of the Halloween Museum, public speaker, researcher appraiser and a great interview guest!

You can find both those episodes, 84 and 85 here. If you want to make sure to keep up with the show, subscribe to the feed in iTunes

Of course, you can find show notes for these and all the back episodes of the Auctionwally show at http://auctionwally.com/show

11/2  Monday Night on the Selling Circus podcast, will feature special guest, Chuck Hester. We’ll talk about how he’s developed his email list and  the “Pay it Forward Chronicles”.

Last week my co-host on the Selling-Circus, Phaedra, announced to the audience that it would be her last week co-hosting the show. She had discussed the decision earlier in the month with me, and we’d both agreed that her hyper-intensive schedule, and a new wholesale distribution contract, would make it difficult to keep up with the show.

I wish her all the best, and thank her for the many unselfish hours she put into the show!

11/3  The next episode of the Auctionwally show will feature a recent interview with
Terry Kovel , from Kovel’s Antiques and Collectibles Price Guides.

                                                           Tables Turned

Last week it was a pleasure to be on the other side of the microphone. EBay education specialist Marlene Gavens interviewed me for an episode of “Tips from the Top

11/5 @2pm,  I’ll be conducting an Appraisal Day event at the Overlook in Charlton MA,  for the 3rd year in a row.

The last two events there really shook some great antiques out of the trees, I can’t wait to see what will show up this time!

Discovery Auction in Barre MA.

Spots are filling up fast, there  are a couple left, but call us if you want to sell, we are almost full1

I’m excited to announce that I’ll be starting  a Discovery Auction on November 19th, Thurs. evening, here in Barre MA.

We’ll run a few of these weekly on Thursday nights, and then see if it’s something there is a demand for in the area. If so, we’ll look to make it a regular event.

                                                                   Tips

If you have an item made out of aluminum before 1850, you have something pretty rare. Before then, aluminum was scarcer than gold and silver.

Automobile road maps came into existence in 1914

Use a  typewriter ink eraser will to remove minor rust spots from old tin signs.
