What is the best way for a new auctioneer to get started in the business?

Before I finish auction school, I wanted to ask someone who’s already done it, what’s the best way to get started in the auction business.

AW says: There are many good ways, the best that I know of are:

• To offer your services free of charge to a charity or non-profit.
• Also, if you have a local auctioneer with a lot of experience in your geographical area whom is willing to mentor you, by all means, see if you can apprentice with him or her.
• The one I chose was to accumulate a bunch of merch, and put together an auction. Whichever method you choose, this is really a business that is best built upon hands-on experience.
