What's it worth? Appraisal of Czechoslovakian vase
pottery and porcelain |
Email Article Linda asks:
This vase is ceramic or porcelain, I am not sure of the difference. It is signed, and stamped on the bottom made in Czechoslovakia.
All I know is it was a gift bought in New York. At least 50 years ago if not longer. I would appreciate any information especially the name of the artist.
Thanks
Linda
AW says: That’s circa 1915-40 and it’s a typical bold colored Czech vase. They were known for using very bright orange, yellows, reds and greens in this period. The artist is not listed in any known directories, which is not uncommon. Many of these people were factory artists and the only art they produced was at the factory, even if they had good amount of talent, which this artist apparently did have.
