AW says: That is a WWII era cast iron humidor, hence the wood lining. The initials are likely that of the officer it was presented to. This was probably presented in appreciation by a corps member to an officer, or by someone else in appreciation of that officer, or corps member.
It has several factors going for it that make it collectible, WWII items are hot right now as are cigar and tobacciana related items.
