Appraisal for Vintage Patriotic Prints

Laura B. says: Hello Auction Wally!
My mother purchased these two beautiful WWII calendar prints for $1.00 each at a thrift store in PA. She thinks it was in about 1972. We know that some of the Uncle Sam ‘I Want You’ prints can fetch prices in the thousands.
We were wondering what you thought these prints might be worth. They were on the wall for a couple of years (in enclosed frames), but have spent the majority of their life under my parents’ bed. They are 11” by 14” prints and are in fabulous condition. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
AW says:Your prints are beautiful and depict a time when this country was absolutely together in Patriotic sacrifice and valuesą„¤ These appear to be in excllent condition, the vivid color tone verifies authenticity.
The value of these as compared to the larger posters you previously referenced is greatly different. As you mentioned these were calender prints, hence a huge amount of them were printed relative to the large recruitment poster.
Theoretically, those large recruitment posters were only printed one for so many recruitment offices so they are much scarcer than the calender prints which were printed for the “average American” and went out to hundreds of thousands of families. They reminded everyone of the sacrifice all Americans needed to make and the part of the glory they could share in the Victory.
These are period WWII prints. I’d put the retail value of these at about $125.00 to $200.00 each, still a pretty good return on an investment of $1.00 each!
Good luck and thanks for sharing them.
