1902 Olds Saturday Evening Post full page ad

Jeff asks:
Walt,
I found your site on google and would like to know about the ad. My wife and I got it in a box at an auction. I will send you a picture of the front and back of the frame.
It is a ad of the first Oldsmobile advertised in the Saturday Evening Post, February 15, 1902. I shows two women driving the car. It talks of the car and advertises the cost of the vehicle at $650. On the upper right portion, it shows the photo of the vehicle by itself. Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi Jeff, thanks for your question and thanks for supporting your local auctioneer. I feel everyone should get to an auction at least once a month, but then, hey I’m an auctioneer.

What you have is a neat item, but not very rare. The retail up here for something like that is about $12.00.
It’s a 1902 ad, but there were a lot of Saturday Evening Post magazines and many of the old ads are still around, it was popluar to frame these old ads in the 1970s & 80s.
In the later editions of this popular magazine look for Maxfield Parrish Mazda Edison ads.
Those start at about $75.00. They’re circa 1910s to 30s.
