What's it worth? Pair of carved Ivory elephants

Dave asks: Here is my second Ivory item lot to be appraised.

AW says: These are an excellent pair of male/female carved Ivory elephants. Very good craftsmanship is indicated by the smooth, elegant lines and good proportion. And the gait on each is believable.

The trunks being up, is percieved to be good luck. We can also note that the wrinkles on the trunks display an extra amount of work that no all carvers would institute.

As you’ve indicated in an earlier email, these are Ethiopina, pre-ban Ivory pieces.
