What's it worth? Appraisal for decorative sword
Dan says.
I’m told the blade is about 18” long and the handle is too small for a man’s hand.

AW says: This is a decorative or a ceremonial sword, not a battle-ready weapon. It’s Circa 20th century and is either fit for a child or a woman.
The reason we know it’s not a battle ready sword is the construction of the handle and scabbard and the chain that is part of the guard, are not sturdy enough to be used in battle. I believe it to be Chinese.
If you could test the handle to see whether it’s bone or plastic, that would make a difference, also, test the scabbard to see if it’s brass or brass plated.
A hot pin test will tell the tale on the handle, a magnet that DOES NOT stick to the scabbard would mean it’s brass or some other semi-precious metal.
My appraisal here, assumes the handle is NOT bone, and the scabbard is NOT brass, let me know if you find otherwise.
