What's it worth? Appraisal for vintage light fixture
Pam asks:
We are in the process of renovating an early 1900 home.
This is one of many light fixtures we removed from the house.
I cannot find anything similar to it on the internet
The only markings are on the ceiling mount and it is stamped ALWYN 4
There is also inside the mount a sticker that said Nerlich and Co. Toronto
I beleive it to be either cast or wrought iron and seems to have some hammered appearance
Hanging length is aprox 18 inches and width is aprox 6.5 inches
Looking forward to hearing from you
Pam

AW says: Pam your fixture appears to be a vintage fixture (circa 1925-40) made of wrought iron. Nerlich & Co. of Toronto were a Toy Co. primarily, but like many manufacturing plants, they branched off into other areas.
The pic you’ve provided of the full fixture is a bit small, but it seems that the shade has been replaces with a contemporary shade.
From the color of the fixture as shown in the bottom pic, it appears as if this may be bronze or bronze plated, take a magnet to it to check. (A magnet will not take to bronze)
