What's it worth? Appraisal for European design chairs
Anna says:
Hello there,
I recently purchased these wooden arm chairs and I’ve had no luck identifying them. I would love to know when they were made and what genre they belong to. They seem a bit Schizophrenic in their design, but they are well made and are in excellent shape.
They have no markings that I can see. Any information about them would be great, also if they have any value whatsoever. If you need any other information about them please email me.
Thank you so much,
Anna

Hi Anna,
These appear to be of a European design. They’re great chairs, even without a maker’s name indicated. When we are unable to find a maker’s mark on a good collectible, we must go on the merit of the item itself.
These are post 1970s chairs, and you’re correct, they do kind of defy category. The wood appears to be maple, and the design has borrowed elements of different styles. Traditionally speaking items that are pure in style tend to sell best.
They are made with very good craftsmanship, and are mortised and tenoned at the leg joints.
