What's it worth? Appraisal of Geisha doll
Brian asks:
I found this doll at a thift store and bought it for $1. I am not thinking it is worth a whole lot of money, but not sure if it has some value with it. What made me buy it at the thift store was because written on the underpart of the display case said, “New York trip May 22nd, 1969” and the tape and cloth it was written on looked really old and faded yellow.
Thanks for the help.

AW says: Brian your insticts were right in both situations, the first, that it was a good buy for a dollar, your second being that it is not very valuable.
One of the most important ways we judge art and collectibles is the amount of effort that was put into the item to create. While this is a delightful and colorful doll, it was make quickly and without high quality materials or attention to detail.
It’s circa late 20th century.
