What's it worth? Appraisal for 1943 Tex Tan Saddle
Andrea asks:
I recently purchased a TEX-TAN horse saddle at an auction. The only stamp I see on the saddle is TEX-TAN 1943. Does this mean this is the date the saddle was made. I’m thinking if it is…then this saddle has got to be worth a lot of money.
At any rate, here are some pictures for you to view.
AW says:
Hi Andrea, yeah, that’s a nice vintage Tex Tan saddle. These started being made about 1936, the model you have is sometimes called the Packer, after Philip Packer.
Thanks for sending good pics!
The words nice, vintage and saddle are all great words to have in the same sentence together. Generally speaking horses are not a cheap animals to keep. There is usually a lot of pride in appearance whenever possible, thus value equine gear, especially good quality, vintage gear will command a premium.
