I have acquired a scrapbook that is slap full of Indianapolis baseball stuff. Included is a signed baseball pass by “Mike J. Kelley” first baseman for the Louisville Colonels in 1899, a signed letter by James A. Perry owner of the Indianapolis baseball team from 1927-1929, who died in a plane crash shortly after he signed the letter, A baseball ticket stub from the 20s, tons of articles, a newspaper article showing “Emil Fertig” with this very scrapbook talking about his days following the Indianapolis ball club, etc.
My question is what is your thoughts on value and the best way to sell this album? Its seems to me that someone in Indiana would really be interested in this? Emil Fertig was considered the biggest fan of the ball team and there is even a article about him accidentally leaving his kids at the game after Indianapolis had lost a game. Numerous articles written by him forecasting the upcoming games. etc. The list goes on and on! Dates range from late 1800s to 1920s.

Hey Shawn, first thanks for signing up here at The AWN.
Your scrap book sounds interesting. BTW, Honus Wagner joined the team in 1900 as shortstop. If there’s anything in there about him that would command a premium.
The problem with pricing something like this, is that it’s a unique item, it was hand collated so there is no other just like it. A ballpark figure, (pun intended) I would guess at about $150, that’s without anything on Honus Wagner. The letter is certainly a nice addition, and personally, I think the story about the guy leaving his kids at the park is a hoot.
I would do a little more research first, then put it up on eBay, or your favorite selling site. I’m using Bonanzle.com successfully these days as well as eBay.
I always advocate that people try to sell their items via their own means as well. I’m going to throw this out a few different places with a link to your profile here. Let’s see if there’s any interest that way.
Good Luck,
AW
