What's it worth? Appraisal of R Atkinson Fox print
Amber asks:
Hey Wally!
I have this R. Atkinson Fox print.
The back reads (Deep Charcoal) which is the only thing that leads me to believe it might not be a print, but Im not quite sure because on the front right it reads Inspiration Inlet.. The frame appears to be an original and measures 22X12
Thanks!

Hello Amber,
It’s almost 100% certain that this is a print, and the term deep charcoal refers to the original medium. If you’d like to be certain, take a strong magnifying glass to the piece and look at it very closely, a print should reveal very, very tiny dot’s or pixilation. An original work would not. Usually this will suffice as a test.
These prints were commercially framed in the early 20s to late 1930s and are very popular today. Fox was a very busy painter and so far over 400 of his works have been accounted for.
Fox was Canadian born (1860-1935)
It would be best NOT to take off any of the paper on the back, no matter what condition it’s in. The original paper proves it was never take out of the frame, an important factor to collectors.
